Center for Simulations & Virtual Environments Research - Second Life Training Manual
New members of the UCSIM team can use this Guide to learn about the project, how our team works, and about the Second Life platform toward providing better service and support to the university community.
Guide materials complement individual training and constitute a self-help reference. This guide is not intended to document everything in Second Life, but should help you get started with the basics and provide pointers to the thousands of tutorials, videos, pages, wiki entries, and other materials about how to use Second Life on the web. New team members should search and find those kinds of materials there, and use this manual as a guide to what types of information and skills they need to acquire to provide the best level of support for students, faculty, and staff who use our virtual campus.
New members should also become familiar with our public website for the Center for Simulations & Virtual Environments Research (UCSIM) where we communicate news and information about the project to the public, and the UC Second Life Team wiki, where we organize our internal communications, document progress on projects, maintain e-mail templates and other project records, and generally organize our day to day work. We will cover other websites used by the team in later sections of this guide, but for now, browse our public website and team wiki to get a better sense of what we're working on and begin to orient yourself to the project.
